This Orifice Sizing Free application provides calculation for correlating design, flow rate and pressure loss as a fluid passes through an orifice. Orifices are often used to deliberately reduce pressure, restrict flow or to measure flow rate. As flow passes through the hole it produces a pressure difference across the hole (some of which is recovered). The plate must be sufficiently thin that over the range of permitted thickness its thickness does not affect the discharge coefficient but thick enough not to be distorted by the forces imposed by the pressure difference.
The Orifice Sizing Free can determine orifice diameter, orifice minimum thickness, beta ratio, line pressure drops, discharge coefficient, non-recoverable pressure drop, Reynold’s Number for liquids, calculates flowing density of liquids. The Orifice Sizing Free is specially designed to assist engineers for limiting the flow which is the intended purpose of reducing the upstream pressure or the flow rate.
